The Idaho Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a statewide, university-based organization which has been helping small businesses succeed since 1986. Everyday, experienced Idaho SBDC consultants meet with clients – just like you – to provide guidance in developing and growing a successful business. Statistics show that our clients outperform their peers typically achieving 5 times the sales growth than the average Idaho small business.
The mission of the Idaho Innovation Center (IIC) is to provide large business resources to small, fledgling companies where entrepreneurs can confidently and aggressively start and grow their small businesses through collaboration, education, mentoring, and advising.
As a business incubator and accelerator, the IIC is a starting point for entrepreneurs who need inexpensive office space to lease. Once a business has had sufficient time to start and accelerate growth, entrepreneurs are able to “hatch” out of the incubator into off campus space as they continue their growth and expansion. Typically, businesses can plan to stay in the IIC for two to three years.
We provide training in the form of Masterminds and Workshops for leaders and teams to improve leadership skills, team performance, team cohesion, and leader and team resilience.
Our training is founded in principles from the Resilience-Building Leadership Program (RBLP) and the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team Program, designed and based on leadership principles from John C. Maxwell, himself.

Lawrence is a certified member of the John Maxwell Leadership Team, a Certified DISC Behavioral Consultant, and a graduate of the 3 Key Elements Coach Fast Track Program.
Jared Oviatt has been a student of leadership for more than 40 years. As a strategic business partner with BBSI, Jared helps guide business owners and leaders through the challenges of growth, transition and transformation.
He has developed a mastery of transformative leadership having served in senior positions over the past 15 years becoming a turn-around specialist in the national private equity and international public traded spaces. Jared focuses on foundational principles that have application beyond any specific industry and believes the biggest impact any individual can have is on fostering powerful cultures that lift the tide for others.
As a music student at BYU-Idaho, Lawrence learned a lot about talent development, leadership, and dedication to his craft. He has over 15 years experience in leadership, sales, and entrepreneurship. He has constantly sought mentoring opportunities.
He returned to Idaho five years ago, leaving behind a successful sales job and side hustle playing for the second most popular country band in Northern Utah, to help build a family business. Within three years he helped increase sales 11x.
Last year he decided to start over and build a coaching business to help young entrepreneurs build the confidence they need to win, and make the right connection to take others with them.
He has been married to his wife Melissa for 16 years, and they have 6 children together, including 2 angel babies.

Bryan has been a recognized business consultant and coach to executives in numerous public, private, and non-profit organizations. His systematic and direct approach helps companies develop and execute on clear strategies that produce results. Bryan’s experience and success translates into practical know how for his clients. In addition to being recognized as a world-class executive coach, he speaks, trains sales organization, and leads executive team retreats. Bryan is detail oriented and well versed in building accountability for results within the organizations were he works.
Bryan specializes in coaching businesses in the areas of sales and marketing strategies, financial management, operations, as well as organizational structure and personal development. Bryan’s entrepreneurial experience spans almost two decades. Bryan was the owner of Wireless Innovations, with 20 retail stores representing Verizon Wireless throughout Idaho, Wyoming, New Mexico and Arizona.
Brandon Van Walraven is the Founder and Lead Trainer/Coach of Peak Leadership LLC. His experience in leadership was obtained through a combination of formal military leadership training, mentorship, coaching, and quite a bit from the “school of hard knocks.” Prior to his current adventures, Brandon spent 20 years in the Air Force as a vehicle mechanic for the first 5 years, and as an all-source intelligence analyst for the remaining 15 years. Brandon is a certified Resilience-Building Leadership Professional trainer and Authorized Training Parter. He was also recently certified as a Maxwell Leadership Certified Team member. Brandon works hard to improve his ability to coach the leaders and teams he works with because he truly believes making leaders and teams better will make business better.
Beyond work, Brandon’s greatest accomplishment is his family. He married the love of his life, Heidi, almost 25 years ago and they have 5 kids, 1 son-in-law, and 1 grandson with another on the way (coming in September!).
In his spare time (if that is a real thing) Brandon reads, works on models (until he gets frustrated with the itty-bitty parts), and makes a variety of things with 550 parachute cord. He is also an amateur woodworker and has made a few things around the house that he is very proud of.
With over 30-years’ experience at the local, regional, national, and international levels, Erik loves working with leadership teams to experience success.
The first half of Erik's career was focused on coaching, facilitation, and training small businesses how to win. After 17-years helping others achieve great success, he took the entrepreneurial leap, and together with a business partner, set out to build a health care technology company.
Like many business owners who struggle with frustrations related to people, profit, and performance, they experienced the same; until we were introduced to the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). By leveraging the complete system and simple tools EOS provides, Erik and his partner found their business became easier to manage allowing for increased vision, traction, and a healthier, more cohesive team. After five years of running on EOS, Erik was able to successfully exit, leaving a team to run the business, which they have successfully done so with double digit growth each year.
