Happy Pioneer Day!

In this week’s message, I share some items that we have kept in our family that have been handed down a few generations. I love learning the stories about my ancestors. There are so many admirable people who I have descended from, and by learning their stories, I can connect with them. One reason I enjoy learning their stories so much is because I realize what I have in common with them. I am connecting with thier stories and learning about how those stories have helped shape who I am, and who I will become.

​Knowing your family history is like unearthing buried treasures—a treasure trove of stories, experiences, and ancestral wisdom that can shape your identity and provide valuable insights into who you are. Today, along with some family heirlooms, I want to share a personal story about how I connected with one of my ancestors who I had previously never felt a need to get to know. Spoiler alert, I’m glad I got to know more about him.

Just to recap your assignment: go learn some stories about your family. Learn about their struggles. Make connections between their life and yours. It will help you know more about where you came from and how you fit into your family tree.

Remember, knowing your family history is not about dwelling in the past; rather, it is about drawing strength and wisdom from the experiences of those who came before you and carrying their legacy into a brighter and more inspired future.
